Developing a Strong Sense of Self-efficiency
Having high self-efficiency has been my goal to enable me to work vigorously on the challenges in my life. Once I started believing that I could do things and reach the goals that I set for myself, I have been more efficient to a higher degree than I‘ve ever been before. My self-efficiency was disturbed by other people’s negative comments about my mental abilities but I was bent on proving them wrong. With my determination, I needed to test myself and prove that I could make achievements, despite other people’s doubts and limiting expectations of me. Going to school, earning a degree, getting a job, buying my own home, and making my own financial decisions were most important to my freedom from other people’s unwarranted barricades.
Before my turning point of new awareness, I did not have a belief in my abilities and, therefore, my efforts were weakened as a result. I lost complete assurance and certitude regarding my abilities and strengths, due to my violent upbringing, and I gave up rather than endure additional emotional pain which came from my fear of failure. After I survived a deadly airplane crash, I knew that I could triumph over any challenge I faced. When I built personal strength and a higher level of self-efficiency, it gave me complete assurance that I could triumph over any physical and/or social barrier that many people with disabilities commonly encounter. Having high self-efficiency was an important protective element that has helped me to successfully deal with unfavorable life incidences. Read my story on My Website
